Why dust is the main enemy
Fine dust settles in tracks, louvers and gutters. Over time it makes moving parts stiff, blocks drainage and dulls finishes. Regular light care prevents most service calls.
A simple routine
- After a dust storm: rinse the roof and frame with low-pressure water; avoid high-pressure jets on seals and fabric.
- Monthly in the dusty season: clean tracks and louver edges with a soft brush.
- Before the rainy season: clear gutters and downpipes.
- Fabric roofs: clean with mild soap and water; do not use solvents.
- Motors: if the roof moves slowly or stops part-way, stop using it and call for service rather than forcing it.
When to call a technician
- Unusual noise when the roof moves.
- Water dripping where it did not before.
- Remote or sensor not responding.
- Visible damage after strong wind.
